The fields of research of the Center contain "Law and Economics"("Rechtsökonomie ieS") and also especially the "constitutional political economy" ("Institutionenökonomie iwS"), which analyses the effects of various constitutional orders and also the reasons, why it has come to different constitutional orders. Part of the research programme is the economic analysis of policy and legislation ("Public Choice").

The researches mentioned above are carried out analytically, experimentally and empirically; and this with classical methods als well as in sense of "behavioral economics".
